相关数据证明，长时间无防护的被暴露在单质镉的环境中，会对肾脏和骨骼造成损伤，但关于碲化镉的毒理学数据却相当有限。无论如何，碲化镉的稳定性要远远强于镉单质，而水溶性则远远弱于镉单质，因此它的毒性要比镉单质小很多。
